On Tuesday the 24-year-old South African cricketer, Lungi Ngidi, announced that he had signed with global sports agency Roc Nation Sports, founded by rapper Shawn “Jay-Z” Carter.
The current South African 2020 ODI and T20I Cricketer of the Year is the first cricketer to join Roc Nation Sports. The sports agency will now be managing Ngidi’s career and negotiating contract terms.
President Roc Nation Sports International Michael Yormark told IOL that the company is looking forward to helping the cricketer achieve his goals both on-and-off the field. Yormark says that Ngidi’s compassion and philanthropy align with Roc Nation Sports‘ values and spirit.
“I’ve been inspired by everything Roc Nation has done since growing the family in SA. I love the vision‚ the culture and everything they stand for. It resonates with me as a person and who I am as a human being‚” Ngidi told Business Live.
According to IOL, Ngidi becomes the third South African sportsperson to sign to the agency after Springbok rugby players Siya Kolisi and Cheslin Kolbe.
