Woman’s Body Found Floating in Kalk Bay Habour

Two local divers discovered an unidentified female body in the water outside of Kalk bay Harbour, near the Brass Bell Restaurant on Sunday morning.

National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI) spokesperson Craig Lambinon confirmed that the duty crews from Simon’s Town and Strandontein were alerted regarding the incident at 9:55am on Sunday.

“The SA Police Services, NSRI Strandfontein and NSRI Simon’s Town crew, City of Cape Town (CoCT) Fire and Rescue Services, CoCT Law Enforcement and CMR (Cape Medical Response) responded to the scene and WC Government Health EMS, a Police Dive Unit and CoCT water rescue network were placed on alert”, Lambinon said.

Police reportedly spoke to local fishermen who allegedly saw the lady (believed to be in her 30s or 40s) on Saturday evening at the harbour, however, no one has reported witnessing her go into the water.

“The body of the female has been taken into the care of Police and Western Cape Government Health Forensic Pathology Services and Police have opened an inquest docket.”
