On Tuesday the Western Cape MEC for Finance and Economic Opportunities, David Maynier, released a statement announcing the launch of a R27 million relief fund to support small businesses that have suffered due to the effects of Covid-19.
“The fund will provide financial assistance in the form of a grant to businesses who can apply to either the formal or informal business category. The grant will be used exclusively to subsidise business expenses such as fixed costs, operational costs, supplier debt and other pressure cost items,” the statement reads.
The MEC says that the launch of the fund will play an important role in rebuilding and saving jobs in the province.
Applications for funding closes on 12 October 2020 at 10:00.
