The scuffle took place in full view of onlookers. The journalist involved in the incident is Netwerk24 multimedia journalist Adrian De Kock.
According to De Kock, he was assaulted as he approached the EFF deputy leader for comment on Cape Town mayor Patricia de Lille. Shivambu is reported to have told De Kock he does not have permission to take photos of him.
Shivambu proceeded to take matters in his own hands by attempting to delete the photo from the camera, according to De Kock. Shivambu was seen walking into the Old Assembly after the incident.
