Update on COVID-19 Cases in the Western Cape

According to the Minister of Health, Dr. Zweli Mkhize, the Western Cape has recorded 1010 confirmed COVID-19 cases.

Premier of the Western Cape, Alan Winde says a total number of 18 932 tests have been conducted in the Western Cape.

Winde said the province has a total of 221 recoveries and 17 deaths. There are 39 COVID-19 patients in hospital, 17 of these are in the Intensive Care Unit.

This brings the Western Cape’s active cases to a total of 772.

Dr. Mkhize said South Africa currently has a total number of 3 465 confirmed COVID-19 cases. On Tuesday there was an increase of 165 new cases and 1 055 recoveries thus far.

To date, there has been a total of 126 937 tests conducted in South Africa. The country’s total number of active cases are at 2352 on 21 April.
