According to reports, two men have been taken in for questioning by the South African Police Service (SAPS) in connection with the multiple murders in the Mthwalume area in KwaZulu-Natal.
Since the start of the national lockdown, five women’s bodies have been found in a sugar cane plantation in the area, two of which were discovered this past week.
KwaZulu-Natal Social Development MEC Khoza said, “At this stage, we are puzzled and disturbed by the incidents taking place in the area. There is a serious problem of criminals targeting women in the area. We believe the law enforcement agencies will work around the clock to bring to book whoever is responsible for such heinous crimes,”.
The two men have not been charged and the investigation is ongoing.
