Teenaged Suspects in Duran Visagie Murder Case Will Appear in Blue Downs Court

Two teenaged suspects aged 17 and 18 are expected to appear in the Blue Downs Magistrate’s Court next week for the murder of 11-year-old Duran Visagie in Scottsdene, Kraaifontein.

Duran was hit in the head by a stray bullet during alleged gang violence on Tuesday 6 October. He later died in hospital. Members of the Anti-Gang Unit arrested the suspects on Friday, 9 October on charges of murder.

Following questioning, the police found more information about the location of the murder weapon.

According to Captain FC Van Wyk, SAPS members searched the home of a woman in Yvonne street Scottsdene. The woman is reportedly the girlfriend of one of the suspects. Van Wyk said, “They found the firearm, a 9mm Norinco pistol with 26 rounds hidden underneath the wendy house,”.

The 19-year-old girlfriend was arrested and will be charged for the possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

The murder case has been postponed to Monday, 19 October for bail information and the suspects will remain in police custody.
