On Monday Moyhdian Pangarker (54), the suspect accused of the murder and rape of eight-year-old Tazne van Wyk, appeared in the Goodwood Magistrate’s Court and was dealt with 20 charges.
The accused was arrested after he kidnapped Tazne van Wyk in February this year. Investigations into the kidnapping led the Crime Intelligence Unit, to Cradock where they found Pangarker. He later directed police to a drain along the N1 near Worcester where they found the body of little Tazne. A post-mortem report indicated that her body was mutilated with injuries to her head, neck and chest. At the time, the accused was out on parole and had been convicted of crimes dating back to 1981, including the murder of his son.
In addition to the murder charge, Pangarker faces 11 counts of rape, 3 counts of common assault 2 counts of kidnapping and charges of incest, sexual assault and violating a corpse.
The case has been transferred to the Western Cape High Court for a pre-trial conference at the end of January 2021.
Pangarker will be moved from Goodwood prison to Pollsmoor prison in the meantime.
