On Thursday morning at 06:00 a sports bag containing 6788 mandrax tablets was found on a passenger bus driving on the N1 near Beaufort West in the Western Cape.
The bust was made in a joint operation between the Provincial Organised Crime Unit, Beaufort West K9 and Crime Intelligence who have a special focus on drug trafficking, when they pulled the bus over at the weighbridge.
“A search of the vehicle ensued and upon searching the trailer of the bus they found a sports bag with 6788 mandrax tablets. This consignment was later linked to a female passenger onboard and she was arrested on a charge of dealing in drugs.”
Police estimated the street value of the tablets to be around R340 000.
The 29-year-old suspect was expected in court on Friday, 25 September.
