South African rugby player, Rohan Janse van Rensburg, has been fined and suspended for two weeks by the Rugby Football Union after he signed with two Premiership clubs.
Janse van Rensburg signed a three-year contract to the Sale Sharks before the 2018-2019 season, while he was signed to Gloucester Rugby for three years starting October 2017.
He has been given a £32 500 fine which is equal to approximately R765 300. His agent, Matthew Ginvert, has been fined £3 750 (approx. R88 297) and must complete the agent education programme. The Sale Sharks have also been fined £20 000 (approx. R470 914) for approaching Janse van Rensburg.
Once rugby matches resume, Janse van Rensburg’s two-week suspension will start.
