According to eNCA, a 39-year-old South African man has been arrested in Rio, Brazil, for the murder of his ex-girlfriend Andrea Venter.
Gerhardus Jansen van Vuuren allegedly beat and stabbed his ex-girlfriend, Andrea Venter to death in 2013.
He was charged with the murder of Venter and granted bail of R15 000, Van Vuuren later fled to South America.
Reports say Van Vuuren, has been a fugitive since mid-June 2013.
However, SAPS spokesperson Brig Vish Naidoo has confirmed to eNCA that Van Vuuren was indeed arrested by Brazilian Federal Police in Rio de Janeiro on Thursday.
