The Presidency announced on Tuesday that Health minister Zweli Mkhize has been placed on special leave.
The announcement comes amidst a corruption probe into the Digital Vibes scandal in which the health minister was allegedly implicated.
The statement highlighted the fact that Mkhize would be afforded an opportunity to attend to the allegations concerning the contracts between the service provider, Digital Vibes, and the Department of Health.
“The Special Investigating Unit is investigating this matter and the President awaits a report on the outcome of this probe. Minister of Tourism Ms Mmamoloko Kubayi-Ngubane will serve as Acting Minister of Health until further notice,” the statement read.
