Police Officer Killed in Khayelitsha

According to a SAPS media statement, a police officer was killed in Makhaza, Khayelitsha on Saturday night.

The statement states that the police officer (36) was shot during an argument with two suspects in what looked like a robbery. A 72-hour Activation Plan has been implemented to arrest the suspects.

The police officer, an employee of the Strand Magistrate’s Court was off duty at the time. The incident occurred in front of his home in Qhela Street, Makhaza.

“Western Cape Provincial Commissioner, Lt General Yolisa Matakata, has lamented the murder of yet another police official in Cape Town as detectives are hard at work searching for the perpetrators of the shooting. A week ago, 25-year-old Constable Thobinceba Xhontelo and a friend were killed in Bardale, Mfuleni by unknown gunmen.”
