According to reports, more than 60 positive Covid-19 cases emerged among high school students in the southern suburbs of Cape Town after a social event at the Tin Roof nightclub in Claremont on 3 October.
On Tuesday, IOL reported that 32 of the students are currently in Matric. They further reported that Herschel Girls’ High School confirmed that 13 of their matriculants who tested positive attended the event. Soon after, a further 11 cases were reported at a Rondebosch school, also reportedly related to the event at Tin Roof.
According to News24, the students were from seven schools in Cape Town, most of which were private schools.
Police and the Provincial Liquor Authorities confirmed an investigation into the nightclub will be launched.
