The Presidency has released a statement informing the public that President Cyril Ramaphosa will address the nation at 20:00 today, Monday 1 February 2021.
President Ramaphosa will speak on the developments concerning the country’s response to the Coronavirus pandemic.
Recent meetings with key role players i.e. National Coronavirus Command Council (NCCC), the President’s Coordinating Council (PCC) and Cabinet, in the advancement of the Country’s response to the Pandemic were held, and tonight’s address will provide further insight into the next steps.
There is speculation that the President will announce a relaxation of the current lockdown regulations. The people are hoping for the lifting of the alcohol ban, an eased curfew and the re-opening of the beaches.
The President’s address will be broadcast and streamed on a range of platforms that are accessible to South Africans and international audiences.
