Police announced that an arrest has been made for the alleged involvement in the murder of a 32-year-old woman in Vosloorus. Her body was found dumped in an open field in Heidelberg.

“It is reported that the woman left Alexandra on the 10 January 2021 to visit her boyfriend who is the father of her two-year-old child. After she did not come back home, the boyfriend indicated that she left home but she did not arrive,” Captain Kay Makhubele says.

The victim was reported missing on Saturday, 16 January by the victim’s mother. Following information received, the police was led to the victim’s car in Alberton. The person who was in possession of the car led police to the victim’s boyfriend, who had sold the car to him.

“The boyfriend admitted that he killed her and dumped her in an open space in Heidelberg. It was discovered that a case of murder was opened after the body of a woman was found in an open field,” police say.

The 32-year-old suspect had been in hiding since the body had been discovered, but with the help of community members, was arrested at his home in Vosloorus on Monday, 18 January.

The suspect will be expected to make an appearance in the Gershon Magistrates Court on charges of murder.
