Unidentified victim killed in aircraft crash in North West

One person was fatally injured this morning when a light aircraft caught alight and crashed on a farm outside of Koster, North West.

Arrive Alive reported that when ER24 and the Provincial Fire Services arrived on the scene at 11:52, they found the aircraft consumed in flames.

Reports state that the light aircraft crashed near a dam at Koster, approximately 10:00 this morning. The farm workers alerted the farm owner who then alerted the authorities.

After a frantic search for any patients, medics and fire personnel eventually found a body under a part of the plane.

Tragically, the person had already succumbed to their injuries and nothing could be done,  the person was then declared dead.

According to SAPS, the body that was found was burnt beyond recognition. The identity of the victim is still unknown.

Details surrounding this incident are still unknown. Local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.

The scene is secured  by police for investigation by Civil Aviation.
