Police officers from the New Brighton Task Team arrested three suspects involved in the murder of an e-hailing taxi driver, Garrison Snayers (30) that occurred on Wednesday, 17 February 2021.
Officers found Snayers shot dead in his Suzuki vehicle after receiving a complaint of shooting in Madala Street around 17:42.
After investigations were conducted, officers determined that the incident was a senseless act of killing.
Following Snayers’ drive-by memorial on Sunday (21 February 2021), Colonel Vuyisiwe Thembani set up a task team to hunt down the perpetrators.
After following up on all leads, the officers managed to arrest three suspects.
“The hunt for Snayer’s killers started at 03:00 on Monday morning, 22 February 2021. The first suspect, aged 25, was arrested at a house in Ngqolombe Street. The team continued with the intense investigation, following up on several leads, which led to the arrest of the second suspect, aged 25, in New Brighton. Police left no stone unturned as they continued their manhunt for the third suspect. Working around the clock, the third suspect, aged 28, was arrested in central last night, 23 February 2021,” said Colonel Priscilla Naidu.
It is alleged that two of the suspects were wanted by police in Motherwell and New Brighton for various crimes ranging from murder, illegal possession of a firearm and two cases of robbery.
The suspects are set to appear in the New Brighton Magistrate’s Court on charges of murder.
