On Wednesday, police found the husband of Lesedi FM Current Affairs presenter Me Dimakatso Ratselane hiding in a house in Ennerdale in Gauteng following his wife’s brutal attack earlier this month.

“Me Dimakatso Ratselane was found on 11 February 2021 by community members at a place popularly known as Dinaweng, in Mangaung full of blood due to multiple stab wounds she sustained. According to preliminary investigations conducted, he was the last person suspected to have been with the victim before she sustained these injuries,” Brigadier Motantsi Makhele reported on 15 February.

After multiple failed attempts at getting hold of him, Mackenzie Ratselane was then treated as a suspect on the run and a warrant for his arrest was obtained.

The Free State team, along with the Soweto Flying Squad, arrived at a house in Ennerdale at 10:30 on Tuesday and took him into police custody.

“Our gratitude goes to our team for all their efforts in making sure that we get the perpetrator behind bars. All information from our communities is appreciated as it also played a vital role, and I would like to thank them for that as well. Any act of gender-based violence will never have space in this province,” the provincial commissioner says.

Mackenzie Ratselane will be expected to appear in court on a charge of attempted murder.
