KZN alleged gang member arrested after being seen in a vehicle riddled with bullets holes


An alleged gang member out on bail for kidnapping and conspiracy to commit murder was arrested in the Bluff, KwaZulu-Natal. 

The detectives from the Provincial Organised Crime Investigations arrested the suspect  after receiving information about a suspect driving a vehicle with bullet holes at the back.

According to  the province’s SAPS spokesperson Colonel Mbele, the suspect (21) who is allegedly out on bail for conspiracy to commit murder, kidnapping and possession of firearm and ammunition was detained at Brighton Beach police station.

After the vehicle was stopped, a search was conducted. “During the search, the suspect was found in illegal possession of a 9mm pistol and nine rounds of ammunition.

“It was established that the bullet holes at the back of the vehicle are from a prior police chase,” said Mbele.

Major General Thulani Gonya, the Acting Provincial Commissioner for KwaZulu-Natal applauded the detectives for their continued fight against gang-related activities.

The suspect appeared in Durban’s Magistrate Court yesterday.
