Isilo Samabandla, King Goodwill Zwelithini KaBhekuzulu, the longest-reigning King of Amazulu has passed away.
In a statement by the Presidency, President Cyril Ramaphosa said that he was deeply saddened by the news.
“His Majesty will be remembered as a much-loved, visionary monarch who made an important contribution to cultural identity, national unity, and economic development in KwaZulu-Natal and through this, to the development of our country as a whole.”
The King passed away in hospital this morning. According to the statement, the King had been in hospital for a few weeks and it was believed that he was recovering well.
The President acknowledged the importance of the Ingonya and its significance to the history, culture, and heritage of the Zulu Nation.

President Ramaphosa offered his sympathies and prayers to the Royal Family, to the Zulu nation, and to the people of KwaZulu-Natal and beyond.
