A liquor delivery truck and its cargo were recovered following a hijacking in Joe Slovo. Two suspects have been arrested.
Captain Andre Beetge reported that the truck was on its way to make a delivery when it was hijacked at approximately 13:30, at the traffic lights on the R75.
“Three armed male suspects forced the driver and his assistant at gunpoint into a silver VW Polo, and later dropped them off in an open space in Joe Slovo,” explained Beetge.
SAPS Rapid Rail Police members were out on patrol when they found the abandoned delivery truck in Seweti Street.
48 cases of liquor were still on the truck.
Beetge confirmed that two male suspects were found carrying cases of liquor in the vicinity. The two men, aged 26 and 27, were arrested for possession of suspected stolen property.
Both suspects are to appear in New Brighton Magistrates Court today.
