The action of an off duty police officer led to the arrest of the suspects involved in a business robbery incident at a Post Office.
On Wednesday, the police officer was informed about the incident earlier that day in Boksburg. While driving the officer identified the suspects’ vehicle.
He then proceeded to call for back-up and a chase ensued. Police report that maximum resources were used to catch the suspects.
“During the arrest police seized four illegal firearms and recovered money in a plastic bag believed to be stolen during the commission of the business robbery at the Post Office. It is alleged that about five armed unknown men disarmed a security guard at the Post Office, took the available cash and fled the scene,” Captain Kay Makhubele says.
Police then traced the suspects, who are aged between 23 and 43, in Boksburg.
The five suspects will be expected to appear in court on charges of business robbery and possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.
They will also be investigated for links to other trio crimes.
