Sizwe Jika (28) was sentenced to two life terms in Port Elizabeth High Court on Friday, 26 February. Jika was convicted of the brutal murder and rape of 83-year-old Anne Ferreira.
Police were investigating a case of murder, robbery, rape and kidnapping. Ferreira was found strangled in her Summerstrand home in May 2018. Her abandoned car was found near Despatch.
Jika received 15 years for robbery, 10 years for kidnapping, 15 years for aggravated robbery and two life sentences for rape and murder.
Colonel Priscillia Naidu further commented that, “Jika is also currently serving a 20 year sentence for the murder of Anne Smit (86). He is also currently serving a 16 year sentence for housebreakings committed between 2011 and 2018. He was sentenced for Smit’s murder and the housebreakings in June 2020.”
According to Naidu, he was also sentenced for the murder of Kelly Bain (26) committed in July 2018.
All of these sentences will run concurrently.
“The second accused in the Anne Ferreira’s case, Lindile Ndambade (36) will appear in court on 15 April 2021.”
