Four suspects were arrested in Parktown after SAPS intercepted a consignment of crystal meth, concealed in a statue, destined for Australia.

Detectives of the Gauteng Provincial Organised Crime Investigations: Narcotics Unit and West Rand K9 members activated the K9 service dog “Buddy” after they received information on a suspected shipment of drugs.

It is said that the shipment was destined for Australia but SAPS members intercepted the consignment of drugs before it could be shipped.

“An immediate on-site investigation determined that the positively identified crystal meth has an estimated street value of R6,5 million,” reported Captain Kay Makhubele.

The sniffer dog reacted positively to the drugs which led to the arrest of the four suspects. Officials found 22kg of concealed drugs in the statue.
