Two suspects have been arrested for possession of stolen goods in connection with a hijacking that took place on Tuesday in Kwazakele.

According to Colonel Priscilla Naidu, the hijacking allegedly took place at 14:00 yesterday. The two victims aged 19 and 26 were offloading stock outside their shop when they were approached by two armed male suspects.

Both victims were shot in the attack and sustained wounds in the stomach and right hip, respectively.

The suspects fled with the vehicle, a Quantum bakkie which still contained stock. When the abandoned vehicle was found, the stock had been removed. The stolen stock was valued at R30 000.

While investigating the scene of the crime, the team received information indicating that some of the stolen goods were inside a house nearby. Assisted by the Anti-Gang Unit and the Kwazakele detectives, the task team searched the premises and found some of the stolen goods.

A brother (21) and sister (29) were arrested on charges of possession of the suspected stolen property.

No suspects have been arrested in relation to the attempted murders and vehicle hijacking.
