On Wednesday, the South African Police Service (SAPS) reported that the body of one of the two missing teenagers was found in the Liebenbergvlei river.

Siphiwe Mlangeni and Moratehi Radebe, both aged 14, from Bohlokong are reported to have gone missing on Thursday, 4 March at approximately 10:00.

“It is alleged that the missing boys were together with another school boy of their same age and were walking together to the river next to the railway line not far from their homes to pick up herbs,” Brigadier Motantsi Makhele reports in SAPS’ initial statement.

The missing boys chose to take a different route on their way back and parted ways with the boy who had been walking with them.

Makhele says that a post-mortem will be conducted to determine the cause of Moratehi’s death.

Police will continue to search for Siphiwe.
