Police in Gqeberha have arrested a 34-year-old woman for her alleged involvement in the murder of her husband on the night of Saturday, 20 March.
“It is alleged that at about 23:30, Duran Alexander (33) and his wife returned home and went inside. According to witnesses, loud shouts could be heard from the couple. While the arguments continued, the woman reportedly screamed for help,” Colonel Priscilla Naidu reports.
Alexander was discovered lying on the floor, bleeding at their home in Kamedie Crescent in Extension 21. His injuries indicate that he sustained a stab wound to the chest which proved to be fatal.
Police arrested the woman on the scene.
“Police are urging victims of domestic violence to seek help. Social work services renders a variety of interventions to assist victims and to address domestic abuse. Victims are encouraged to seek support from relatives, neighbours, friends or spiritual leaders and to use the services of the professionals available in your respective area,” Naidu says.
The woman is expected to appear in the Gqeberha Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, 23 March.
