A scuffle ensued between two brothers, aged 17 and 19, after visiting a local tavern in Matolong Village outside Taung. The incident resulted in one brother fatally stabbing the other.
The brothers were allegedly at a local tavern on Friday (19 March 2021) and returned home in the early hours of Saturday morning.
It’s reported that the two got into a fight over money that was supposed to be shared between them and their parents attempted to intervene. However, the brothers left home and continued the fight in the streets.
“Allegations further state that the two brothers fell on the ground and the 19-year-old was found with a stab wound on the stomach, he died at the scene,” stated Lieutenant Colonel Amanda Funani.
The accused brother (17) was dealt with according to the Child Justice Act 75 of 2008 and he is currently under parental care.
