In his address on Wednesday, President Cyril Ramaphosa announced additional sectors that will be permitted to resume under the current Level 3 restrictions.
Ramaphosa said while South Africa remains at lockdown Level 3, additional sectors of the economy will now be allowed to reopen but only as long as strict measures are in place to ensure physical distancing and personal hygiene.
- Restaurants for sit down but with limited capacity
- Personal care services which includes hairdressers
- Conference centres holding business-related gatherings
- Cinemas
- Theatres
- Casinos
- Non-contact sports will be allowed to resume their activities
Contact sports will be allowed to continue to train and use facilities with restrictions.
The president said more clarity on the lifting of the restrictions will be communicated in the coming days.
