Health Minister Zweli Mkhize opted not to attend the Health Portfolio Committee briefing where he was expected to explain his role in the Digital Vibes contract saga.
Mkhize reportedly informed the Committee chair, Dr Sibongiseni Dhlomo on Thursday night that he would not attend following legal advice that he should not.
Reports are alleging that Mkhize benefited from the Digital Vibes contract, which was a multi-million rand communications contract to handle media briefings during the Covid-19 pandemic. Digital Vibes is allegedly owned by some of Mkhize’s close associates.
According to eNCA, the Democratic Alliance has laid criminal charges against Mkhize on Thursday.
