President of Madagascar, Andry Rajoelina, launched a herbal drink that could reportedly prevent and potentially curb the spread of Coronavirus.
According to the Malagasy Institute of Applied Research (IMRA), the drink, named COVID-Organics, has been made using a plant called Artemisia. This plant has also been proven by the IMRA to be effective for curing malaria.
Rajoelina claims that it takes 7 days to work and that two people have already been cured by the COVID-Organic drink. The drink will be given to school children, who are encouraged to drink it throughout the day and will mainly be used as a preventative measure against the coronavirus.
At present, there are no international studies to back up claims about the COVID-Organics drink nor any data available in peer-reviewed studies.
Madagascar currently has 121 detected cases, with no deaths reported.
