The V&A Waterfront has said in a statement that they have tightened security following a video circulating social media, showing violent interactions between a group of young people outside its Victoria Wharf Shopping Centre on Saturday.
“The incident happened [on Saturday] early evening and resulted in one youngster being stabbed in the back. Our security personnel did come onto the scene to disperse the group and ER24 were called to attend to the stabbing victim who was then released to his family who came to fetch him. No other casualties are reported,” Head of PR and Communications Donald Kau says.
The V&A says that the cause of the fight is uncertain and they are currently reviewing the video footage, as well as questioning their security personnel to get more information from their report.
“At this point neither the victim nor relatives have laid a charge with the police which would allow us to assist the police in identifying and apprehending the person or people involved. We would encourage them to do so,” Kau says.
The V&A says that this is an isolated incident and while they have a comprehensive security operation, they have increased personnel working over the weekend as the situation is monitored.
