Three buildings caught alight in Killarney Gardens, cause unknown

On Saturday night, a destructive fire broke out at Starflex Packaging in Lauda Road in Killarney Gardens, in which three buildings were damaged by the blaze.

All the buildings belonged to the plastics company, says the Daily Voice.

Spokesperson Jermaine Carelse said that the Fire and Rescue Service arrived on scene at 22:13. “The first arriving officer from Milnerton reported that the fire was spreading to adjacent buildings and requested more resources,” said Carelse.

Carelse also mentioned that 13 firefighting appliances and 52 staff members helped extinguish the flames after 04:00.

The publication states that they were unable to reach the owners of the company for comment a day after the fire broke out.

“Crews are still monitoring the area for any flare-ups that may occur,” said Carelse.

The publication said that on Sunday there was still a group of fire rescue teams ensuring the safety of the public.

News24 reports that there were no injuries and the reason for the fire is yet to be determined.
