On Saturday, an 19-year-old teenager drowned at Cosy Beach, Oudekraal in Cape Town while swimming with his friends.
ER24 paramedics say they arrived on the scene at 14:05 when they saw a group of five teenagers trying to perform CPR on the rocks.
“According to the boys, they had been swimming and their friend had disappeared under the water. They had managed to bring him to the surface after several minutes and then had lifted him onto a big rock where they started CPR,” ER24 says.
The friends had been performing CPR for approximately twenty minutes before the paramedics took over.
Unfortunately, there were no changes after some time and the patient was declared dead on the scene.
Captain FC van Wyk reports that an inquest case has been registered at the Camps Bay police station.
