A 38-year-old man was arrested in Parklands for dealing in drugs after it was discovered that he had been in possession of crystal meth valued at more than R1 million.
A spokesperson for the City’s Metro Police Department, Superintendent Ruth Solomons, says that the joint operation was carried out by the City of Cape Town’s Metro Police Gang and Drug Task Team and the Crime Intelligence Gathering branch of the South African Police Service.
Solomons says that following the search of the residence, officers discovered the drugs in one room. The mass of the drugs is estimated to be between 6kg and 8kg and is stated to have an estimated street value of more than R1 million.
The search also led to the discovery of R224 280 in cash.
The 38-year-old was then arrested and detained at the Table View police station.
Further investigations will be made.
