On Tuesday afternoon the Western Cape Government Health’s Emergency Medical Services’ Drone Rescue Project located the body of a missing woman on Table Mountain.
“The woman has been missing since Monday, 22 February and a missing person’s report was filed at SAPS Stellenbosch. She was seen walking up the mountain on Friday, 19 February and her bag was found during the early hours of Saturday, 20 February, on top of the mountain, in the Fountain Ravine area,” Emergency Medical Services spokesperson, Deanna Bessick, says.
It is presumed that the woman jumped or fell from the top of the mountain.
Bessick reports that the EMS drone was first deployed at 08:35 on Tuesday morning and thorough drone flight searches were conducted.
In the end, the body of the woman was eventually found this afternoon at 13:30.
Her body was located by the EMS Rescue Team who assisted with the search by foot due to the bushes that obstructed the view of the drone technician.
