On Monday morning four people were shot, of which one sustained fatal injuries, during an incident in Hanover Park.

“Philippi police are investigating cases of murder and attempted murder after a shooting incident during the early hours of yesterday morning at Donegal Court Hanover Park,” Captain FC van Wyk reports.

According to the report, a 32-year-old was fatally wounded in the incident. There were three other victims aged 23, 28 and 44. They were transported to a nearby medical facility for treatment.

Van Wyk says that the possibility that the incident is gang related cannot be ruled out.

The presumed perpetrators fled the scene in two Volkswagen Polos, one grey and the other white. The registration numbers are unknown at this stage.

Cases of murder and attempted murder have been opened for investigation.
