The Daily Voice reports that four members of the South African National Defense Force (SANDF) were arrested by police officers from the Atlantis South African Police Service (SAPS) after being found with dagga worth R50 000.
They were arrested around 04:00 on Thursday and charged with dealing in drugs.
Police spokesperson Colonel André Traut stated that the police officers were initially patrolling the Atlantis coastline for abalone poachers when they saw four men inside a SANDF vehicle.
After spotting the vehicle, the police officers started to follow the vehicle and became suspicious once the driver sped up. The officers pulled the driver over, started searching and found the hidden substance in the boot.
Traut further told the publication that the suspects are between the ages of 30 and 51. “[They] are expected to make their court appearances at the Atlantis Magistrate’s Court on Monday.”
