Cape Flats gangster stoned to death

The body of 27-year-old Hard Livings gangster Monray Phillips was found by a passer-by near the Junction on Duinefontein Road in Manenberg on Saturday morning, reports the Daily Voice. The body appeared to be stoned.

The publication stated that Phillips’ mother Bonita said that he was last seen at 07:00 and left without informing her about his whereabouts.

“He brushed his teeth and came to check on me in my room, then he left,” said Bonita.

She also states that 10 minutes after her son left, she was told that her son had been murdered.

“I don’t know what he was killed for, but I know that he didn’t rob people.”

According to the publication, Bonita described her son as being a “nice boy” and helpful when it came to running errands. She believes that Phillips’ death was not gang-related. “I am left with questions, but it won’t change anything because he is no longer here.”

Police spokesperson Captain FC van Wyk said, “Circumstances surrounding his death are under investigation.”
