Beacon Valley bust leads to confiscation of multiple drugs

Mitchell’s Plain SAPS arrested several suspects after acting on information received about alleged involvement in the dealing of drugs.

“On Sunday, 7 February 2021 at about 10:25 members of Mitchell’s Plain police were busy with crime prevention patrols, when they received information about drugs being sold at a premises in Biljaart Street, Beacon Valley.

“When police searched the premises they found 440 mandrax tablets, 20 grams of heroin, 99 units of heroin and 99 packets of tik. The members arrested a 60-year-old female on charges relating to the dealing in drugs,” Captain FC Van Wyk reports.

After searching the rest of the premises, police arrested a 28-year-old man on charges relating to being in the possession of drugs after 15 packets of tik, 13 units of heroin and mandrax tablets were found in the room.

The suspects were expected to appear in court on Monday.

In an unrelated incident, on Sunday afternoon at around 15:10 during their patrols in Seventh Avenue, members of Mitchell’s Plain Town Centre Crime Prevention Unit arrested a 34-year-old man after he was found with a .38 Special revolver and five rounds of ammunition.

The 34-year-old man will face charges of possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition and is expected to make an appearance in court.
