The deployment of Anti-Gang Unit members in Ocean View on Wednesday 6 January 2021 in a bid to prevent crime has yielded successful results.

The AGU members made four arrests and confiscated a firearm, ammunition, and drugs.

The SAPS statement read, “The Unit members followed vital information about drugs at a house in Scorpio Road where they seized substantial quantities of mandrax tablets and crystal meth.”

The statement confirmed the arrest of two 30-year-old women and a 29-year-old man for possession of drugs.

Brigadier Novela Potelwa continued, “While still in the area, the team searched a house in Andromeda Way after observing suspicious movements of one person. There members discovered a .38 special revolver with ammunition concealed under the floor.”

The serial number of the firearm was said to be filed off. A 40-year-old suspect was subsequently arrested for illegal possession of a prohibited firearm and ammunition.

Potelwa said that all the suspects will appear in court on Friday 8 January 2021. The AGU members are praised for their efforts to keep Ocean View safe after the recent spate of gang violence in the area.
