With just under a month to go before he’s corruption case goes to court, former president Jacob Zuma’s legal team dropped him.
Zuma’s case is scheduled to start on 17 May, however, reports say his attorneys, Mabuza Attorneys, have filed their intention to withdraw as his legal representatives with the High Court in Pietermaritzburg on Wednesday.
According to News24, Attorney Eric Mabuza refused to give a reason for his decision to stop representing Zuma.
The attorneys’ withdrawal comes shortly after the Supreme Court of Appeals found that Zuma would need to pay for his own legal fees and that state funding for his lawyers in the corruption case is unlawful.
Zuma has reportedly been instructed to return state funds used to pay his legal fees for this corruption case.
