A homeless man in search of food made a gruesome discovery when he found five frozen full-grown fetuses in a red bag strewn amongst the filth in the bin he was rummaging through.

According to an eNCA report, a sixth fetus was discovered in the same spot the following day. eNCA reports that the shocked man alerted the police of his discovery and police are now trying to trace the source of the fetuses.

Jay Naicker, KwaZulu-Natal SAPS spokesperson said, “We are not just looking for the women that might have terminated, we are also looking at if this came from a legal or illegal clinic.”

“Legal or not, the fetuses should not have been dumped in a rubbish bin. Therefore, additional charges in terms of the Termination of Pregnancy Act will be added,”

Speaking to IOL Naicker said that the homeless man was ‘astonished’ at the discovery. The initial discovery occurred on Saturday night in Albert Park in Durban, while the sixth fetus was found on Sunday.

No arrests have yet been made.

  1. I’m too disturbed by this to comment much further… What is most disturbing is the fact that the discovery was in the same location? Why do women in SA feel they cannot use acceptable legal ways to either terminate a pregnancy or consider adoption?

Is the economic and social divide too monumental after all these years of so-called change in how a nation is cared for…
