The Queen has agreed for a transitionary period in which the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will spend time in Canada and the UK.
After crisis talks involving senior members of the royal family, Queen Elizabeth has given her blessing to let Prince Harry and his wife Meghan have an independent future.
The 93-year-old monarch confirmed in a statement that she is entirely supportive of her grandson and his wife’s wishes to create a new life as a young family.
She highlighted that there would be a transitionary process where the couple would split their time between Canada and Britain, as the task of cementing future arrangements for the couple involved more work.
“Although we would have preferred them to remain full-time working members of the Royal family, we respect and understand their wish to live a more independent life as a family while remaining a valued part of my family”, she added.
