Family and friends of Gershwin Arendse have made a plea for financial assistance as they struggle to meet the burial costs for the deceased teenager’s funeral.

The mentally disabled 19-year-old died after he was hit in the head by a stray bullet while asleep in his Manenberg home early on Tuesday morning.

As a gang war raged outside one of the bullets penetrated the wall of the family’s Wendy house.

The landlord, Joan Williams, stated that the family is seeking financial assistance for Arendse’s funeral on Saturday.

“We would like to help the Arendse family with the burial which costs. We would really appreciate any help we can get,” Williams said.

If you would like to assist please contact Joan at 078 132 7811.
