According to a SAPS media statement on Wednesday, the Eastern Cape Police are looking for four dangerous suspects that escaped from lawful custody on Wednesday morning at Whittlesea near Komani.

“The four suspects were to be transported to the court from Whittlesea when they seized firearms and a police vehicle before escaping. The police vehicle was later found abandoned in the vicinity of Dongwe. However, the two firearms could not be found at the time,” the statement read.

They were initially arrested for armed robbery (cash-in-transit) and rape in the Komani area and were in prison awaiting trial.

Police warn that the public shouldn’t attempt to apprehend these criminals as they are believed to be armed and dangerous.

“Cases of escaping from lawful custody, robbery and theft of motor vehicle have been registered in Whittlesea for investigation.”
