Eskom announced that load shedding will be escalated to stage 4 on Wednesday, due to suffering additional breakdowns at Medupi and Duvha.
Medupi lost one unit and Duvha encountered two units that went out of service, Eskom said in a statement.
In its statement, Eskom assured the public that stage 4 load shedding will continue until 10pm after coming into effect at 2pm. After 10pm load shedding will revert to stage 2.
The utility concluded by saying, “These emergency reserves are required to respond to further emergencies in order to maintain the stability of the national grid.”
