According to a Power Alert on Twitter, “despite some units having returned to services last night, Stage 3 load shedding will be implemented from 9 am on Saturday to accommodate the shortage of capacity and to replenish emergency services, until 5 am on Monday.”
“Unplanned outages or breakdowns were at 10 612 MW as at 6 am this morning while planned maintenance is at 6 574 MW,” Eskom says it will provide regular updates.
The power utility reminds South Africans that there is a possibility of increased load shedding over the next 18 months as they are conducting critical maintenance to restore the plant.
Visit the Eskom website for load shedding schedules and make sure you aren’t left in the dark.
