CAPE TOWN – The Cape Town Cycle Tour have confirmed the death of a third person connected to the race on Sunday.
The 40th edition of the Cape Cycle Tour has been hit with another tragedy. The organisers issued a press release confirming the death of a Marshal who was earlier admitted to hospital.
The marshall was stationed on an s-bend after the Llundudno turn-off close to the end of the race. Information surrounding the incident are still unclear at this stage.
The SAPS have now been brought in to assist in the investigation.
The death of the rotary marshal follows the already two fatalities in this year’s race. One cyclist passed away after being involved in a collision with other cyclists at Wynberg Hill. The second death was a heart attack victim at Smitswinkel Bay.
